Streets to close this Saturday for Apple Valley Reverse Triathlon
More than 500 athletes and hundreds more spectators are expected to converge on Apple Valley September 23 for the eighth annual Reverse Triathlon.
The event will start with a 5K run, transition into a 12-mile bicycle ride and finish with a 150-yard swim. Children can participate in a shortened version with a three-quarter mile run, one-mile bicycle ride and 50-yard swim.
To ensure everyone's safety, the following streets will be closed between 6:30 and 10:15 a.m.:
- Dale Evans Parkway from Bass Hill to Corwin Road
- Dale Evans Parkway/Bell Mountain Road from Waalew to Corwin
- Waalew from Corwin to Navajo
Access to Highway 18 will still be accessible through either Rancherias or Corwin to the west and Navajo or Flathead to the east. Citizens on Patrol volunteers will help residents that live within the closure areas navigate safely to one of the detour points.
All adult athletes will receive a T-shirt and medal for finishing. For more information or to register for the event call (760) 240-7880 or visit www.AVRevTri.org.
