Tire Day 1

Get rid of old tires for free

Apple Valley, CA – November 27, 2018:  Residents of Apple Valley can avoid disposal charges and keep tires out of the desert by turning in their tires free of charge during Tire Amnesty Day on Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Passenger car and light truck tires are accepted with proof of address. The event is open to all residents of Apple Valley. Limit loads to nine tires at a time. No rims will be accepted and no commercial dealers please.

“Used tires are hazardous waste. Whole tires can hold water that becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Illegally dumped tires attract other sorts of illegal dumping activity and are a potential fire hazard that can release noxious smoke, oil and soot contaminating our air and water resources,” said Code Enforcement Manager, Guy Eisenbrey. “Our Tire Amnesty Days have a significant positive impact on decreasing the occurrence of illegally dumped waste and used tires.”

The cost of the event is covered by Cal-Recycle's Local Government Waste Tire Amnesty Program and is sponsored by the Town of Apple Valley and Burrtec Waste.

Lion’s Park is on South Outer Highway 18, between Flathead and Dale Evans Parkway.
