E.C.S. — Emergency Services Communications — is a group of licensed amateur radio operators who want to assist local government during times of emergency or disaster.
In Apple Valley, the Emergency Communications Services group consists of volunteers who are registered as Disaster Service Workers to provide public safety communications support. Administration and management of the group is through the Apple Valley Office of Emergency Services. Throughout the nation, there are other individual R.A.C.E.S. groups operating under their own respective local governments.
E.C.S. is just one of three Disaster Service Worker volunteer groups in Apple Valley. The other two are C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) and F.A.D.D. (Friends of Animals During Disasters).
