ARE YOU PREPARED?

September is National Preparedness Month and we want to make sure our citizens of Apple Valley have all the tools and resources needed to keep your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers prepared for disasters of all sizes.

Each week of September we will have a focus area.

For Week 1:  September 1-9   Make a Plan for Yourself, Family and Friends.  Click on our link for more information on creating a emergency plan.

For Week 2:  September 10-16 Plan to Help Your Neighbor and Community.  Visit our link for information on how to get involved.

For Week 3: September 17-23 Practice and Build Out Your Plans.  Visit the following link to complete an Emergency Financial First Aid Kit (EFFAK)

You can also stop by our offices at Town Hall and pick up a free family disaster plan and other handouts to help get the conversation started.

Stay tuned for information tips all week!

OFFICE OF EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

The Town of Apple Valley’s Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP) supports the community by administering the National Preparedness Goal of Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response and Recovery.  OEP is actively coordinating the Town’s response to disasters and emergencies as well as aiding residents, businesses and visitors in preparedness for major catastrophes both natural and man-made.

OEP works with local, state and federal government partners, as well as non-governmental organizations to achieve this goal.  OEP maintains the town’s Emergency Operations Center, is an active partner with the County of San Bernardino’s Operational Area Coordinating Council and participates in regular training and exercises to test and update the town’s Emergency Operations Plan to insure a state of constant readiness. In addition the Town updates our Hazard Mitigation Plan on a 5 year cycle and is currently in the process of updating.
