Overview

Annually, the Town receives federal HUD dollars to help meet certain community development objectives.  A percentage of these dollars are used to fund economic development programs that help increase employment opportunities, and improve public facilities and parks, for example. A smaller percentage is distributed to local “public services” (non-profit and charity organizations), where the dollars are used to meet basic community needs including:

  • Provide homeless assistance and decent, affordable housing
  • Improve accessibility, mobility and transportation services
  • Promote economic opportunities and benefit low and moderate income persons
  • Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight
