The Wastewater Division operates and maintains approximately 140 miles of collector sewer, trunk lines and interceptors as well as nine sewer lift (pump) stations providing sewer service to a population of over 22,000 Apple Valley citizens. The division also conducts aggressive cleaning and maintenance programs on the wastewater system and facilities. Through Underground Service Alert's one-call Dig Alert system, the division also locates underground facilities for property owners and contractors to protect the integrity of our lines. We work directly with homeowners and contractors to assist them with locating the proper point of connection for new and existing construction. The Dig Alert Location Request Form can be accessed here.
The Wastewater Division provides plan review and approval for projects that require connection to the sewer. The Town uses the latest edition of the County of San Bernardino Sewer Standards. Once plans are submitted for review, plan check and inspection fees will be calculated during the review process and an invoice will be prepared. Any necessary revisions will be noted and after final plan check and subsequent approval, your plans will be returned to you to make corrections. Once the corrections have been made you are ready to proceed with your project.
All new mainline construction is inspected by the Town's Engineering Department and lateral connections are inspected by the Wastewater Division. Requests for inspections must be made 24 hours in advance. The monthly rate for sewer service as of July 1, 2018 is $32.92 per equivalent dwelling unit (EDU).
