Town of Apple Valley Offers Online Building Plan Check

Apple Valley, CA – March 19, 2020: The Town of Apple Valley will accept electronic plan submissions for building plan check service beginning March 23.

The new Electronic Permit Center will allow customers to submit a plan check application and upload their documents online. The Town is also implementing new web-based plan check software, for use by Town staff, that will allow reviewers in any department to conduct their reviews concurrently, reducing the overall turnaround time.

“Implementing online plan check during the coronavirus pandemic is pivotal as we practice social distancing, while ensuring probusiness processes,” said Town Manager Doug Robertson. “Online plan check will also save time and money for architects and builders by reducing paper drawings.”

In addition to reducing paper costs, the new Electronic Permit Center will be open 24-hours a day, allowing building projects to be submitted anytime, from anywhere.  This added convenience will allow architects, builders and homeowners to realize additional cost savings by reducing the number of trips to Town Hall.

On March 17, the County of San Bernardino issued a clarifying statement to their earlier order concerning social gatherings. The order requires the cancellation of public or private gatherings of people through April 6. Heightened Hygiene Practices

As is typical during any flu season, public health officials recommend individuals take a number of steps to protect both their health and the health of those around them, which include:

  • Wash hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with individuals who are sick.
  • N95 masks are NOT recommended outside of a healthcare setting. Surgical masks can be worn by sick individuals to reduce their likelihood of spreading germs.
  • If someone becomes sick with a respiratory symptoms like fever and cough, they should stay away from work, school and other people to avoid spreading the illness and seek treatment from their healthcare provider.

The Town of Apple Valley will continue to monitor the situation and immediately inform the community if any specific precautions or guidance are provided by either the Department of Public Health or the Office of Emergency Services.
